It came down to the same thing that nearly every single NFL online game comes down to: Somebody made a play.
The competition in the league is so fierce and so close that somebody making a play that’s out of the ordinary determines pretty much each online game.
And you know it when you see it right away. A punt return, a weird bounce from the ball and a turnover. Something that doesn’t fit correct into how the online game has gone from the game plan.
And also the Super Bowl was no diverse. Sean Payton changed how the online game was going along with his decision to have an onside kick-start to the second half. The Colts could have recovered it and had a chance, but New Orleans got the ball and scored.
While everybody referred to as it a “gutsy” call, what’s the difference between giving Peyton Manning the ball on his own 30 or at the 50? A couple of first downs? Good call, and solid strategy in the real world.
Tracey Porter’s interception for a touchdown could be described as the play on the game. When New Orleans took the lead at 24-17 after the two-point conversion was referred to as beneficial, CBS took a shot of Manning on the sideline, and everybody watching knew that Peyton was heading to tie the online game on the next possession.
And it started out just that way. Marching down the field, it looked like the Colts were going to send the game into overtime. But Porter “made a play” and sealed the victory for the New Orleans Saints.
A year ago, the Saints were an 8-8 team but a couple of tweaks later, and they’re World Champions.
It should give the Jaguars hope. A team with a competent and confident quarterback (David Garrard circa ’07), a good running online game and an active defense has as beneficial a shot as anybody of going for the Super Bowl.
Get hot at the suitable time and you never know what can happen.
I still hate it when Miami hosts the Super Bowl. Everybody who has nowhere else to go ends up on South Beach. It’s impossible to get around there and folks dress and act in a ridiculous fashion. Women are all dressed like Paris Hilton and the guys have a uniform that includes a platinum rope, sunglasses at night and at least four communications devices.
The food, the international flair along with the culture in Miami are all very attractive. The traffic and all the posers make it an ugly scene.
